Some Solstice models need this system mounted on bulbs so that their instrument panel wont incorrectly read that a lamp is burned out when it is not. Since GM originally used incandescent and halogen lamps, the onboard computer circuits dont always recognize LED bulbs without CAN-bus technology. If you do want to use CAN-bus bulbs to fix this issue, then you simply install them like any other bulb. The data transfer process is completely automatic.
