Cadillac Escalade ESV Taillights

Cadillac Escalade ESV taillights are an important and necessary part of your vehicle. Overtime accidents can happen and taillights may stop working. Luckily, with a wide selection of taillights to choose from, you can find the right replacements for your Escalade.

What taillight varieties are there?

There are several different designs that you can choose from for your Cadillac vehicle, each with their own special characteristics. The three most common are halogen, Xenon HID, and LEDs.

  • Halogen: These taillights are made in a similar fashion to the incandescent lights that have been used in homes for decades. Halogen taillights have a metal filament made of tungsten inside of a glass bulb filled with halogen gas. The halogen gas is the main difference and provides a significant benefit to the performance of the taillights overall. When in use, the tungsten filament gets hot and some of the surface atoms start to vaporize. The halogen gas is able to help mitigate this by depositing the vaporized atoms back onto the surface of the filament. This helps to extend the life span of the taillight.
  • Xenon HID: Instead of the common design featuring a metal filament, Xenon HID taillights use a more advanced design, which results in the brightness that these bulbs are known for. Rather, HID taillights use a design that enables the electricity to jump the gap between two electrodes without needing the filament. The arc that is generated passes through the xenon gas that fills the bulb, which is able to energize the gas. When the gas is energized, it responds by emitting light.
  • LED: LEDs have been in use in many applications for years in diverse fields, such as computer screens and automotive indicator lights. Because of the versatility of LEDs, car manufacturers have begun using them as automotive taillights. LEDs are suitable for this as they are able to emit an impressive amount of light given the size of their bulbs while at the same time being energy efficient.
How do you replace taillight bulbs on an Escalade ESV?

Replacing taillights is a simple process. Once you have picked out the ones that you are going to use on your Cadillac model ESV SUV, all you need to do is remove any fasteners or bolts that are holding the taillight assembly in place and then carefully remove the old bulb by gently twisting it until it comes loose. Insert the replacement bulb and tighten it in place, then replace the assembly and the parts that keep it secure. Before heading out on the road, make sure to test the replacement bulb.
